The 2016 FBU National Championship is set to roll south to sunny Naples, Florida this December!

Out of the 192 teams who are about to begin their journeys across 8 different regions of the USA, only 24 teams will advance to FBU Championship Weekend in Naples. These teams - eight from each bracket (6th, 7th and 8th grade) - will have the chance to prove that they are among the best in the tournament and be crowned National Champion.

After fighting for three rounds, the teams that earn their trips  on the Road to Naples are just three wins away from being crowned 2016 FBU National Champions.

Football University National Championship (FBUNC) is considered the single biggest event in youth football, striving to build a platform for young football players across the country to compete on the national level. Youth football players from 6th, 7th and 8th grades have the opportunity to represent their communities, states, and regions in the single-elimination tournament. Naples, Florida has been home to the tournament’s championship games for the last two years after moving from San Antonio, Texas, where the event was held in conjunction with the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

FBUNC not only gives young athletes the chance to compete, but also to gain local and national attention from high school and college coaches.

“We started to see players getting national exposure from the recruiting services in 2013,' said Steve Quinn, Vice President of Player Development. “The tournament is the only true national youth all-star event. Over 25 athletes received their first Div. I scholarship offers in 2014 and 2015, and we expect that number to grow as we return to Naples in 2016. Coaches, players and athletes from coast to coast realize this is the next step in the progression of playing at the next level.”

Competing in the tournament not only gives athletes the chance to compete against the best talent in the country, but also to gain the attention of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Committee. Those who have earned their Army All-American honors include Davis Mills (Norcross, GA), Deangelo Gibbs (Loganville, GA), Tarik Black (Cheshire, CT), Isaiah Pryor (Bradenton, FL), Jake Moretti (Arvada, CO) and Darnay Holmes (Newbury Park, CA), who will be playing in the 2017 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Tyreke Johnson (Jacksonville, FL), Trevor Lawrence (Cartersville, GA) and Matt Corral (Thousand Oaks, CA) have also committed to play in 2018.  .

It’s rumored that University of Miami coach Mark Richt watched film of Harrison Bailey (Powder Springs, GA) in the 8th grade FBUNC Championship game prior to offering Bailey his first college scholarship.

The Championship games of each age bracket are broadcast live on ESPN3 from Naples High School in Naples, FL.

FBUNC was created after founders of Football University (FBU) saw a rise in the talent and growth of student-athletes who participated in youth football. FBU is focused on providing the best position-specific, technique training across the country. Coached by former NFL coaches and players, the three-day, 20-hour curriculum is designed to give young athletes the tools and abilities to enhance their skills. FBU’s motto is Technique Plus Talent Beats Talent Alone. Learn more here!
