VISIT FLORIDA Appoints Three Collier Tourism Staff to Industry Committees

Naples, Fla. (June 20, 2014)– Three members of the Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau team have been appointed to VISIT FLORIDA marketing committees to provide industry input in the areas of international travel, communications and meetings and travel trade. VISIT FLORIDA is the official tourism marketing corporation for the state of Florida.

Collier County tourism executive director Jack Wert was re-appointed to the International Committee, which provides feedback and expert counsel on strategic matters related to market development within targeted Canadian and overseas markets. Programming focuses on cooperative efforts with key travel intermediaries, including travel trade and airline professionals. CVB public relations and communications manager JoNell Modys was re-appointed to the Communications Committee, which serves as the primary source of industry feedback and counsel on strategic matters related to VISIT FLORIDA’s public relations and communications activities, including media relations and crisis communications. Group sales manager Debi DeBenedetto was newly appointed to the Meetings & Travel Trade Committee, which provides counsel on strategic issues related to VISIT FLORIDA’s meeting planner, tour operator and travel agent relationships and sales activities. 

Committee positions are a one-year term beginning July 1 and consist of VISIT FLORIDA board members and industry partners who have an interest or possess strong knowledge in each specific committee's discipline or product segment.

“These appointments allow our Collier County tourism industry team to provide input on important tourism matters at the state level and to be in close contact with the team at VISIT FLORIDA,” said Jack Wert, tourism executive director. “We are honored to serve in this capacity and these appointments are an example of the leadership and experience of our staff.”

The Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is the official tourism marketing and management agency for Collier County, Florida, known as Florida’s Paradise Coast. The CVB produces the area’s ongoing destination marketing campaigns, website and visitor guides and provides information and assistance for travel media, group meeting and event planners, tour operators and travel agents. The CVB is funded entirely by the Collier County tourist development tax collected by hotels, short term vacation rentals and campgrounds.
