Naples a Finalist in USA TODAY’s 10Best Competition for Best Golf Destination
Final rankings determined by online voting through April 23, 3014
Naples, Fla. (March 24, 2014) – Naples, Fla. is one of the nominees in USA TODAY’s latest 10Best Readers' Choice travel award contest. The USA TODAY 10Best expert panel selected Naples as a contender for the Best Golf Destination category, which just launched. The contest, which is being promoted by USA TODAY, gives voters four weeks to vote for the candidate of their choice at http://www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-golf-destination/. A person can vote once a day for the run of the contest.
Voting ends Monday, April 21st, 2014 at 11:59am EDT and the winners will be announced on 10Best on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014 at 11:59am EDT, then later on USA TODAY.
Prior competitions have been hotly contested. The Florida’s Paradise Coast destination marketing team encourages the area’s fans and followers to vote for Naples daily through April 21.
Earlier this year, the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) selected Naples, Marco Island and the Everglades – Florida’s Paradise Coast, as its 2014 Golf Destination of the Year for North America.
“Top designations from highly regarded organizations like IAGTO and news outlets like USA TODAY give us priceless exposure across the nation and the globe as a quality travel and vacation destination, which ultimately brings more short term visitors, economic impact and jobs to the area” said Jack Wert, executive director for the Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The finalists for Best Golf Destination, in alphabetical order, are: Bandon, Oregon; Coeur D’Alene, Idaho; Kiawah Island, South Carolina; Kohler, Wisconsin; Las Vegas, Nevada; Maui, Hawaii; Miami, Florida; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Naples, Florida; Orlando, Florida; Palm Springs, California; Pebble Beach, California; Pinehurst, North Carolina; Ponte Vedra, Florida; Ruidoso, New Mexico; Scotland; Scottsdale, Arizona; Sea Island, Georgia; Texas Hill Country; and The Greeenbrier, West Virginia.
