Football University National Championship Returns to Naples
6th, 7th, 8th Grade Final Games at Naples High School Mon, Dec. 21

Public Encouraged to Attend - Games Will Be Broadcast LIVE on ESPN3

Naples, Fla. (December 17, 2015) – The Football University National Championship series, the single biggest event in youth football, is back in Naples for the second consecutive year with semifinal games over the weekend and the national 6th, 7th and 8th grade championship games scheduled for Monday, December 21 at Naples High School. The public is invited to come out on Monday for a fun tailgate party from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and to fill the stands for the final games that will be broadcast live on ESPN3. The 6th Grade Championship starts at 1 p.m.; the 7th Grade Championship starts at 4 p.m. and the 8th Grade Championship starts at 7 p.m. The tailgate party is free and there’s a $5 game admission on Monday at the gate – good for all three games.

Athletes in 6th, 7th and 8th grades from around the country have competed in the national bracket tournament throughout December. Of the original 192 teams (64 per age bracket), the final four in each age bracket earned the chance to play for the championship title in Naples. Officials with All American Games, the creators of Football University and the FBU National Championship, say the competition is being referred to as the “Little League World Series of Football.”

Over 2,100 players, families, coaches and officials arrive in Naples Thursday afternoon and Friday.
Semifinal games take place Saturday at Naples High and Barron Collier High followed by a dinner reception for players, coaches and families Saturday evening at Naples Zoo. There’s practice for advancing teams on Sunday at North Collier Regional Park along with consolation games in each division for those teams that don’t advance to Monday’s finals. All players will be treated to some recreation time Sunday at Collier County’s Sun-N-Fun Lagoon water park.

This all leads up to Championship Game Day on Monday with the tailgate party in the parking lot of Naples High School and the 6th, 7th and 8th grade final games. All of the Monday championship games are open to the public and tickets can be purchased at the Naples High School gate for $5.00.

2015 marks the second year that Naples has hosted the final four games. The event is anticipated to bring over 2,100 officials, players and families to the area and to create and economic impact of approximately $2.5 million from hotels stays, dining and shopping in the area.

“It’s exciting for us to welcome these passionate athletes and their families back to Naples for the championship games,” said Jack Wert, Collier County’s tourism executive director. “Last year we heard that the players and families loved their time in Naples. This year, we hope local residents will come out to celebrate the success of these teams and fill the Naples High School stands on Monday afternoon and evening for some great football during the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade championship games.”
