Football University Announces its Return to Naples for the 2016 FBU National Championships

WHAT: Football University National Championship and Florida’s Paradise Coast – Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) announce the return of the 2016 and 2017 Football University (FBU) National Championships to Collier County.

WHY: April 20, 2016 – NAPLES, FL – The Naples, Marco Island, Everglades CVB in conjunction with Football University National Championship (FBUNC) and Naples Grande Beach Resort is hosting a press conference on Monday, April 25, 2016 at Noon at the Naples Grande Beach Resort located at 475 Seagate Drive, Naples Florida 34103. Besides scheduled speakers at the press conference, youth league directors and athletes that have previously competed in the annual tournament and who are from Southwest Florida will be in attendance, as well as Naples High cornerbackTyler Byrd, who played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl this past year.
Officials at the press conference will announce the kick-off to the 2016 Football University (FBU) National Championship that takes place December 17- 20, 2016 in Naples. The Championships will feature the top 24 teams out of 192 total teams from 16 different regions in the United States.
“We’ve been the proud hosts of this event for the past two years here in Naples, and it has shown great success,” said Jack Wert, Executive Director Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Bringing the single biggest youth football event in the country to our destination not only supports our tourism industry, it gives young athletes a chance to compete on a national platform,” Wert said.
FBUNC strives to build a platform for young football players across the country to compete on the national level. Youth football players from 6th, 7th, and 8th grades have the opportunity to represent their communities, states, and regions. The event will feature both the semi-finals and the final championship games in December. The final FBUNC championship games will be web-streamed on ESPN3.
Naples Grande Beach Resort is the FBUNC host property with more than 4,500 room nights anticipated for it and other destination hotels, generating more than $3 million in direct spending in the destination.
