“Windows and Doors to History”

“Windows and Doors to History”
November 1, 2016 - February 18, 2017
Marco Island Historical Museum, 180 S. Heathwood Dr., Marco Island, FL 34145
This exhibit is a collection of original artwork by seven renowned artists that will be featured in the Museum's Traveling Gallery. These works of art will reflect vivid scenes from Marco Island’s past from the Pleistocene through Modern times. The unveiling of the pieces will be a sneak peak at what will be permanently installed in the faux windows and doors throughout the exterior of the Museum Complex and Buildings. This project was spearheaded by the Marco Island Historical Society to raise funds to bring “home” on loan to Marco Island many of the Key Marco Calusa artifacts uncovered during the Pepper-Hearst world-famous 1896 archaeological expedition.
